Product Description

Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate (CuSO4·5H4O) is an important inorganic compound, appearing as blue or blue-green crystals, commonly known as blue vitriol or bluestone.

Our industrial-grade product is specially developed for mining flotation applications. As one of the most widely used activators in sulfide ore flotation, it effectively modifies mineral surface properties, significantly improving the floatability of target minerals. This helps concentrators achieve higher concentrate grades and improved metal recovery rates.

In the flotation pulp, copper sulfate dissolves and releases copper ions (Cu²+). These ions undergo a replacement reaction with metal ions (e.g., Zn²+) on the surface of target minerals such as sphalerite.

This reaction forms a thin, insoluble copper sulfide film on the mineral surface. This film is much more responsive to collectors (such as xanthates) and significantly enhances collector adsorption. As a result, the originally hydrophilic mineral surface becomes hydrophobic, allowing it to attach to air bubbles and rise to the surface, achieving efficient separation from gangue minerals.

Product Usage

This product is specifically designed for mining flotation and serves as a critical regulator and activator in non-ferrous sulfide ore flotation processes. It is widely used for:

• Flotation of non-ferrous metals: Copper, lead, zinc, gold, silver, nickel, cobalt, molybdenum, and other metal ores.

• Activation of Sphalerite: Serves as the standard activator in differential lead-zinc flotation circuits. It effectively reactivates sphalerite that has been depressed by lime or cyanide, ensuring high zinc recovery.

• Activation of Pyrite & Pyrrhotite: Commonly used to activate pyrite for the recovery of associated precious metals such as gold and silver.

• Complex polymetallic ore separation: Highly effective in complex flotation circuits such as copper-lead separation and copper-zinc separation.
