Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) has a unique molecular structure (CH3O-CO-OCH3), which contains carbonyl, methyl, methoxy and carbonylmethoxy in its molecular structure, so it can be widely used in carbonylation, methylation, Methoxylation and carbonyl methylation have Chemicalbook mechanical synthesis reactions, which have a very wide range of uses, and are mainly used as carbonylation and methylation reagents, gasoline additives, raw materials for the synthesis of polycarbonate (PC), etc. The large-scale production of DMC is developed along with the non-phosgene synthesis process of polycarbonate.

  

A new type of low-toxic solvent can replace solvents such as toluene, xylene, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, acetone or methyl ethyl ketone in the paint and adhesive industries, and is an environmentally friendly green chemical product.

DMC has properties such as high oxygen content (up to 53% oxygen content in the molecule), excellent octane boosting effect, no phase separation, low toxicity and rapid biodegradability. The amount of DMC used to make gasoline reach the same oxygen content is 4.5 times less than that of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), thereby reducing the total emissions of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and formaldehyde in automobile exhaust. Additives are easily soluble in water and pollute groundwater sources, so DMC will become one of the most potential gasoline additives to replace MTBE.
